Autumn at Spirit Springs
Marcellus, Michigan
This nature preserve was named Spirit Springs in part because the surface stream and groundwater seep on the site, but also because it’s a place that lends itself to peaceful reflection and the renewal of mind, body, and spirit.

Bird in the Light at Pictured Rocks
Munising, Michigan
The Pictured Rocks at sunset. The bird flew into the shot at just the right moment to claim its own piece of sunset light.

Upper Tahquamenon Falls
Paradise, Michigan
Located in the eastern UP 20 miles west of Paradise, the Upper Tahquamenon Falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. It is more than 200 feet across and has a drop of nearly 50 feet. Four miles downstream is the Lower Falls, a series of five smaller falls cascading around an island.

That Bear
Ketchikan, Alaska
This shot was taken in the morning rain during low tide at Herring Cove. The bear was looking for fish in the low tide waters while slowly walking toward us as we watched from the far bank. I captured this image just as the bear noticed us for the first time.

Kalamazoo Transportation Center
Kalamazoo, Michigan
The Kalamazoo Transportation Center (the Train Station) is conveniently located between Detroit and Chicago in downtown Kalamazoo. The mileage is posted to discourage walking to either destination.

Pudding and Petoskey Stones
Good Harbor Bay, Michigan
These Petoskey stones were collected on the shore of Lake Michigan at Good Harbor Bay near Traverse City. The Pudding stones, also from Michigan, photobombed this shot, but I chose to leave them in.

Roaring Fork
Burnsville, North Carolina
This picturesque cascade, on the Roaring Fork stream, is a short walk upstream from the Noah “Bud” Ogle historic homestead, on Cherokee Orchard Road, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Super Blue Moon Rising
Kalamazoo, Michigan
The second full moon in the same month is called a Blue Moon. They occur “once in a blue moon” or not very often. This Super Blue Moon was photographed at Milham Park Golf Course just before sunset.

Acadia Rainbow
Acadia National Park, Maine
The rainbow appeared as the storm cleared in Acadia National Park in October.

Barrel Aging Bourbon
Frankfort, Kentucky
Buffalo Trace Distillery has been Barrel Aging Bourbon for 130 years (not the same bourbon—that’s just too long to wait).
But wait! There’s more!
